Understanding Canada:

Federalism, Trade Policy Making and Agreement Implementation

This seminar, organized in close partnership with the University of Amsterdam and held in Salle Jean Rey at European Commission headquarters in Brussels, was designed to help negotiators from the European Commission and representatives of EU Member States better understand Canada, including especially the relationships among federal, provincial and territorial governments responsible for trade policy making and implementation. It featured renowned constitutional law expert Dr. Peter Hogg, as well as experts in trade, environmental and technology issues, Professors Steger, LeBouthillier and de Beer. In attendance at this event were roughly two dozen key personnel and diplomats representing the European Commission and its Member States.
